One Hour Runner, week 10, day 3
I am now officially a one hour runner.
This run was pretty easy to be honest. I kept looking at my watch so I could document the exact moment when I would have to start struggling. I was anticipating writing something like "I got to minute 43 and then I had to grind it out." That moment never came. My legs got really tired and I slowed down toward the end but there was never any doubt that I would finish.
The funny thing is that as soon I stopped running and started walking was when the real pain started. It felt like I hit a wall. I honestly could have jogged 10 more minutes. That's how good I felt. The second I started walking I felt like I could barely move. It was very strange.
I guess I should mention that for all these runs I had to take a 30 minute walk to get to the trail. Every time I walk 30 minutes, do my run and then walk 30 minutes back. Today's 30 minute walk home might have been the longest of my life. I'm beat.
Unlike C25K, I knew from the beginning of OHR that I would be able to do it. That doesn't change the fact that it's a huge achievement for me. I'm proud that I stuck it out. I'm proud to be a one hour runner.
