9 months ago when I got my first full-time job, along came the benefits of health insurance. Yay! So I selected my primary care physician and had my first appointment a few months ago. Along with the routine physical, she asked for blood tests. I had a fasting blood test done, and she asked to repeat it again just to be sure. The second fasting blood tests confirmed that my glucose was elevated. She informed me that I have pre-diabetes. And she told me to attend a pre-diabetes class. That happens to be next friday. My weight was 168. In the meantime I've lost 3 lbs since the physical. Last week I weighed 165. My BMI is 25.8, which means I'm just above the normal weight and right on the overweight side. She says that diet and exercise should help lower my glucose level. She wants to repeat the blood test again in a few months. So I have the summer to knock a few more pounds off.
